A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Director at Ravenswood Studio, one of Chicago's leading scenic art production houses, Roland Oria has long been fascinated by the principles of classicism and realism.
While enjoying the dramatic qualities of charcoal, oil and acrylic, Roland feels that today's artist should stretch accepted boundaries, explore new concepts and reinvent the norm.
"My aesthetic is firmly rooted in realism, but I believe that art should be a reflection of our contemporary world," says Roland. "As such, I often use materials that have relevance to the present day, whether that means using recycled elements or commonplace materials--such as rust and archival newspapers--not traditionally thought of as art media."
The artist visits Europe frequently to source subject matter for his artwork, and has exhibited in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
